Screening for Plagiarism Policy
Southeast Asia Journal of Comparative Education Research (SAJOCER) is committed to upholding the integrity of academic publishing and takes plagiarism seriously. To ensure the originality of submitted manuscripts, all articles undergo a thorough plagiarism screening process before entering the peer review stage.
1. Plagiarism Detection
-
All manuscripts submitted to SAJOCER will be screened using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate, or equivalent tools).
-
The similarity index must not exceed 20%, excluding references, common phrases, and properly cited content.
-
Manuscripts that exceed this threshold or show signs of unethical academic behavior (e.g., verbatim copying, improper citation, or paraphrasing without attribution) will be automatically rejected or returned to the author for revision.
2. Types of Plagiarism
The following practices are considered plagiarism and are strictly prohibited:
-
Direct plagiarism: Copying text from other sources without citation.
-
Self-plagiarism: Republishing one's own previously published work without proper acknowledgment.
-
Mosaic plagiarism: Borrowing phrases from a source without using quotation marks or rewriting with minimal changes.
-
Accidental plagiarism: Unintentional failure to cite sources properly, which still constitutes a violation.
3. Author Responsibility
-
Authors are responsible for the originality of their work and must ensure that all sources are appropriately cited.
-
Authors are required to submit only manuscripts that are free from plagiarism and have not been published elsewhere.
4. Editorial Action
-
If plagiarism is detected before publication, the manuscript will be rejected.
-
If plagiarism is found after publication, the article will be retracted, and the authors may be blacklisted from future submissions.
By submitting to SAJOCER, authors agree to comply with this plagiarism policy and understand the consequences of ethical violations.
